Previous Concerts
The Occasional Singers performed the following Christmas Concerts in 2023:
- Monday 11th December St Michael and All Angels Church, Dalton 7.30pm.
- Monday 18th December St Luke’s Church, Orrell 7.30pm.
Tickets for each concert were £8 and included festive refreshments.
The programme was varied and contained many of the old traditional Christmas carols including such favourites as Once in Royal David’s City, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, O come, all Ye Faithful etc in which the audience was invited to participate.
The choir also performed a varied selection of other carols including Lo! Star-Led Chiefs, the beautiful Lute-Book Lullaby, Rutter’s Candlelight Carol, Up! Good Christen folk and listen, and a delightful Reginald Jacques arrangement of Away in a Manger.
There was also a short selection of solos and entertaining readings.
The concerts finished with the audience invited to help not only sing the Twelve days of Christmas but also to physically join in in groups by waving the appropriate day and lustily singing their part!
During the interval festive refreshments were served.
